About ADRC’s Caregiver Retreat

As some of you may know firsthand, the job of caregiving for a loved one suffering from Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementia is literally a full-time job, one that is often filled with stress and little to no time alone to relax and obtain some peace of mind.

The Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center understands firsthand the stress caregivers constantly deal with and is why every year we coordinate and provide our Caregiver Retreat gives, a much-needed vacation opportunity for a total of 60 active family caregivers. For over 20 years, ADRC’s Caregiver Retreat has provided our compassionate and hardworking caregivers the well-deserved chance to momentarily unwind and relieve themselves from their caregiving journey over a weekend.

For some caregivers, this is the only chance for a vacation they have and we help cover the coordination of respite care for their afflicted loved if it is needed. This retreat is only open to active family caregivers (not professionals) as it is our goal to provide support and wellness to families and individuals in need.

Taking place April 22nd through April 24th at the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort, this weekend long beach getaway will be one to remember. Caregivers are free to do whatever they want while they relax from it all during the retreat, joining ADRC in fun games and activities or going off alone for a nice, long siesta on the beach.

Fundraising and sponsorships help cover costs of the resort stay, transportation, food and dining, entertainment, overall funding for all weekend activities, and caregiver scholarships for those who cannot afford the $85 to go or need respite care coordination.
